PRAGUE/ BERLIN, 08. December 2025 – Europe’s sovereign Legal AI expands further by collaborating with Nakladatelství C. H. Beck to develop a Legal AI Workspace specialized on the Czech markets. The legally competent and compliant AI solution, trained on exclusive local legal data, will support legal professionals in law firms, legal departments, government, and the judiciary system in the core areas of their legal work – from information gathering (research) and analysis of complex issues (understanding) to document creation (drafting). This follows collaborations of Noxtua with leading European publishers to develop versions of Europe’s sovereign Legal AI specialized on local jurisdictions and tailored to the specific requirements by being trained on exclusive legal data.

Tradition meets innovation

The publishing house Nakladatelství C. H. Beck has been one of the leading legal publishers in the Czech Republic for many years. Its database Beck-online covers all relevant areas of law and includes especially commentaries which are fundamental for the legal work.

The AI scaleup Noxtua which was founded in 2017 from research at Oxford University and Imperial College London recently already launched in close corporation with Germany’s largest legal publisher C.H.BECK the Legal AI Workspace Beck-Noxtua, specialized on the German jurisdiction. Noxtua pursues a clear European vision to strengthen European digital sovereignty through strong strategic partnerships and combines powerful AI with European values such as privacy, transparency, and the rule of law.

To build a sovereign AI infrastructure that is independent of US hyperscalers, the AI company has also partnered with the European cloud providers IONOS with whom they also initiated Germany’s first sovereign Legal AI Factory and Open Telekom Cloud (by Deutsche Telekom). User data is processed exclusively on secure servers by these certified European companies, protecting sensitive data and making the Legal AI resilient and sovereign. This allows Beck-Noxtua to meet the high requirements for confidentiality, professional secrecy, and data security.

Complete, multi-level AI system combined with regional depth

Among other things, the Legal AI Workspace supports legal practitioners in:

  • Legal research in natural language with access to national specialist literature, case law, and legal texts.

  • Analysis of complex issues and large volumes of documents (e.g., matrix analyses, mass document evaluations).

  • Creation of legal texts such as briefs, contracts, or memos.

  • Integrating their own documents and workflows via connectors.

  • GDPR-compliant processing and compliance with professional standards in the Czech Republic.

Strategic milestone with Nakladatelství C. H. Beck

"With the expansion into the Czech Republic, we are taking another step in the European approach of our Legal AI Workspace. We believe in strong strategic partnerships with leading European publishing houses to develop sovereign Legal AI with the best market fit. The Czech market has a strong legal tradition and will soon also have forward-looking Legal AI. With Nakladatelství C. H. Beck, we have gained a partner with in-depth expertise," explains Dr. Leif-Nissen Lundbæk (CEO & Co-Founder Noxtua)

“The collaboration with Noxtua is an important step for us in providing a sovereign and AI-supported working environment for legal professionals in the Czech legal market, combining high professional quality and European independence,” adds Jiří Holna (CEO, Nakladatelství C. H. Beck)

“Following the launch in Germany and other corporations, we are delighted to now also be present in the Czech Republic. Together with Noxtua, we are building a Europe-wide, sovereign Legal AI that protects the independence of legal publishing houses and takes tradition into the future. This serves not only the market but law itself as sovereignty and independence is key in the legal domain,” emphasizes Dr. Roland Klaes (member of the management board at C.H.BECK)
